A very dear friend gave me this Butterfly jar for my birthday.
The "butterfly" actually flutters about the jar!
Molly is just fascinated by it!

She is determined to catch this butterfly!

We gathered together to celebrate after the bazaar. Unfortunately, all the ladies were unable to attend. We had fun playing "Now you have it, now you don't" with an ornament exchange and shared our home baked cookies. Our bazaar was a grand success! We raised over $3,000! After the bills were paid, we are able to help 4 of our church families in crisis for Christmas, set aside $500 toward our food baskets for 2012, and pay for an upcoming electric bill...God is Good!

Pray for us, as we meet later to elect officers and decide the future of the Craft guild.

This is NOT a craft, but I wanted to share it with you.
My Sister, Betty, gifted me with this lovely hanging.
It reminded her of Molly.

As you know by now, Molly is always with me
when I create crafts.
I was boxing up some Snowmen and Santa's, and Molly
decided that the box was a great place for a nap!

Sorry we have been late in updating our postings. I will try to do a better job. The "flood of 2011" hit home and I had water in my basement and have been busy cleaning up and cleaning out! I am now under control and will be able to focus more on the craft guild postings.

We have all been busy with various projects and I must get busy with some photos. Betty and I have made some cute wooden snowmen and angels, pictures to come later. Pauline is busy with a "new" item called potato bags. I will feature this later with more information. JoAnn is leading a class on wonderful place mats. Faye is making adorable sweatshirts. Gail has made gourd art, including a best seller, a giraffe, picture will be shown at a later posting. Barb is working on jar toppers which will be filled with a surprise. Khris has made oh so wonderful homemade soaps. Carolyn will have some beautiful hand knit items. Donna is creating one of a kind greeting cards, and there is soo much more to come.

Every season, we pride ourselves on introducing "new and different" items. We will have homemade jams, candies, and yummy treats in our bake shop. This year we will also be serving breakfast and lunch on both days.

We will also have a "Secret Santa" shop for the children to shop for their family and friends. And of course, we will gift wrap their items for them, so there will be no peeking!

Molly is enjoying her Summer!
and we're getting ready for Christmas!

Yes...that's right! We will start our first Christmas planning meeting on July 6th, at 9:00 am, and the magic begins! If you have been thinking of joining us, this is the perfect time. Everyone is welcome. July meetings will be discussing what we will be creating and changes needed and how to make our bazaar better.

At this meeting, we are to bring ideas for craft projects. Many of which can be found in craft books or magazines, at craft stores and many ideas are on-line. Books are in in craft room for your use also. If you need help for ideas, ask another crafter to work with you.

We also have lots of crafts donated by Trinity UM church. Many of these items will need "tweaking" to make them an eye catcher for our bazaar. (A dap of this, a touch of that).

For those of you who would like to join and have questions, just ask a crafter! We are a group of approximately 12 christian inspired women, who meet weekly and have a wonderful time. Read our Mission Statement in the left column of this blog. We start each meeting in a circle of prayer and have a short business meeting and start crafting . Our meetings are every Wednesday from 9:00 am to noon. If you can not make it every Wednesday, join us when you can. If you do not feel you can craft, we will show you that you can, with loving, guiding hands. We share love and laughter and have a wonderful time when we craft. Sometimes, we are even surprised of the wonderful items that we create!

We hope to see new faces in July! God is with you always...have a wonderful Summer!...as you can see, Molly is!

For the first time, we did not have to go home
after the end of the first day and have to bake more!

I had 2 pictures of Khris in the kitchen welding a rolling pin over Jim's head but unfortunately in my excitement to get the shots, I moved and they came out too fuzzy. Without their help and expertize, we would not have raised the monies that we did. Everyone loved the All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet and our luncheon. We had a choice of 4 very special soups. Boy! can they ever cook!

Also A Big Thank You to our President, Carolyn Weidemann, she put her organizing talents to work. She worked up a schedule and we all knew what we were to do. Great organization!

Each time we have a bazaar, we enjoy it more and always enjoy talking to our friends and making new friends. It's a wonderful opportunity to witness for our Lord and Bethany!

We will be taking off for a much needed rest until August, and then we will have a planning meeting for our Christmas Bazaar. If you have been thinking of joining us, we would love to have you! It's an oportunity to get out of the house and enjoy laughter and christian fellowship.

We raised over $2,300. With that, we will be purchasing a new refrigerator (much needed), helping to support the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets with a gift of $500, and the balance given to our Safe Access Fund.

Khris did a wonderful job and brought new ideas that
have helped us continue to do good things for our
church and community in the name of our Lord.

We also Thank Vi Harrell, who served as Vice President, Ruth who served as Treasurer from the beginning of our Guild, and Carole Alwood who served as Secretary.

We gifted $700 to the UM Women for the Thanksgiving and Christmas
food baskets and we gave an additional $2,000 for the concrete
project at the rear of the church.

We have started up for our Wednesday meetings, but so far,
the snow seems to be coming in the middle of the week , and we have missed
3 meetings, so we are all to a very sloooow start!

We invite all the ladies to join us every Wednesday, (weather permitting),
at 9:00am to Noon in the Social Room. Don't be afraid if you,ve never crafted, we will
guide you to being an imagineer!

Til Death, do us part...

Dear Viewers...

Two days after my last posting my sweet husband, George, died suddenly on November 23rd. My life is now forever changed. Part of me is missing and I am in deep mourning. George was a wonderful man, husband, father and grandfather. I will forever miss him.

I will be taking a hiatus from craft guild in order to grieve my loss and learn how to restart living again...and I also will be spending more time with Molly, my cat, who is also grieving her Daddy.

I thank everyone who is surrounding me with love and pray, which means so very much to me, but all I can feel now is terrible pain. Please continue to pray for my healing as I feel as if I am lost in a cold dark forest and I need my husband to find me.

The Craft Guild "Thank You" for your generous support at our Christmas Bazaar and Dine In Event. We "Thank" our Bethany Bakers, who always come through for us. It is my understanding at last count, that we made over $2,600, of which $2,000 will be going to the outside project fund.

We are asking for the first Friday and Saturday in December for future Christmas Bazaar's as we can no longer hold a one day - 12 hour event. We ask for your prayers that this prayer can be answered.

We revived an old craft fro the 20's and 30's.
These are Victorian paper dolls.
We dressed them in lovely gowns made
of material, ribbons and flowers.
They are lovely!

Molly follows me everywhere and
when I am on the computer, she lays on
her bed in the window and enjoys watching
the birds and squirrels. On this day,
she was treated to a bush filled with birds!

Counting Down to our Christmas Bazaar!

Ahhhh!...Now I have your attention!
This is a warm homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge cake.
Every year, my good friend, Deb Kauffman,
bakes one for her birthday
to share with her co-workers.
And she always makes sure that I get a slice...
it's one of my very favorites...maybe I can get her to
bake one for the bazaar!

Molly, who needs no introduction, of course "jumped" at the chance
of getting her picture taken, when she saw me with the camera.

Our 2010 Christmas Bazaar is bigger and better than ever!

We will be serving an "All You Can Eat" breakfast from 8 am to 10 am;
featuring quiche, special home baked potatoes, muffins, fruit, orange juice, coffee and tea.
Prepared for you by Khris Lehman and staff.

Lunch will be served from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm
Dinner will be served from 4 pm to 6:30 pm
The menu will be:
Homemade creamy corn chowder with bacon
( we husked the fresh corn this Summer, and froze it)
Hamburger Vegetable Camp soup
Chicken salad sandwiches
Ham salad sandwiches
Fresh Cranberry Salad
Assorted desserts
Assorted beverages

We have planned our event, so you can sit down, enjoy a meal, meet new friends, relax and
of course, shop...all at the same place!

For the first time this year, we will have a special Santa Shoppe for
the children! No parents allowed in the Santa Shoppe!
Just give them a list of names,
perhaps ages of young ones that they are shopping for
and their spending money.
Santa's helpers will assist them! Their gifts
will be wrapped and ready for under the tree!

We will have homemade jams, wonderful fresh baked goods,
including sugar cakes and apple dumplings. Special candy and soo much more!

What makes this event sooo very special???...
Everything has been made by the Bethany Craft Guild
and our wonderful Bethany members!

We strongly feel that the Lord Blesses
us, as we work, pray and plan our
events every Wednesday morning from 9am-noon.
We would LOVE to have you join us!

Now For Some GLITTER!

"PEACE ON EARTH"
This wreath is in various shades of purple.
The balls, leaves and "Peace" message are all glittered!
I purchased all the items for this wreath, after Christmas last year.
It is big and beautiful!

But as I always tell you, the pictures are not as lovely as the products.

"ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH"
I also purchased all the items for this wreath last year.
She is silver and full of glitter and Glory!

"I BELIEVE"
The theme the birth of our Saviour.
Again, every thing was purchased last year.

These 2 ornaments were purchased last year.
I loved them and knew that I would incorporate them into a wreath!
If you look closely, you will see them in the wreath above.

"IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR"
I featured this wreath earlier, then realized that I hadn't finished it!
It is a lovely quilted piece that I purchased at a yard sale!
I added my touch and it is now adorned with gold glittered stars.
And it lights up!

"THE SWEET SMELL OF GINGERBREAD"
Christmas isn't Christmas without the
sweet smell of gingerbread!

I purchased the glittered gingerbread men after the holidays last year.
I purchased and made glittered buttons (using a 40 o/o off coupon)
and adorned him with candy canes.
and used gingerbread ribbon that I found in my ribbon drawer.

"JINGLE BELL SANTA"
This small wreath is adorable.
It was made from bells purchased after Christmas last year,
and all the other items were in
my crafting supply containers.

"LARGE ROSE CENTERPIECE"

This lovely centerpiece was designed from
items that I had in my crafting containers.

This photo shows you that there are 3 ruby red
candle holders in the center.
I put in 3 battery flicker lights.
You can also burn real candles, if desired.

"SMALL SLEIGH ARRANGEMENT"
I found the sleigh in our donated items.
The rest was in my crafting supply containers.

"SANTA"S PRACTICE RUN"
This arrangement is very special to me. I inherited the fiber optic Santa and sleigh
from my Aunt Helen's estate last year. She was a wonderful, loving
Christian, I decided that she would be pleased if I created
an arrangement and donated it to our Guild. I made a little snowman and created
a snow scene with trees and birds.
It will look lovely placed anywhere and perfect for someone in
a nursing home!

"HO HO SANTA"
I found a wooden egg and holder in my Spring crafting supplies.
I saw Santa right away!

Here is a side view, so you can see he is indeed an egg!

As you can see, I've been busy in my basement, making wreaths...why in the basement?...because glitter, glitter, glitter, is everywhere! I even managed to get some on the wreaths!! I have made 7 wreaths, at this time, but can only show you 6...the 7Th, must wait until candy canes go on sale. It will be adorable and pictured later!

Did you ever wonder how hard it must be to create Christmas crafts in July, August, September and October??? Believe me when I tell you that it is a challenge. Most of us go shopping after Christmas for items on sale up to 80 o/o off. And we ALWAYS use coupons! If we were not bargain shoppers, we could not sell these items at the unbelievable low prices that we do. Also, many of you donate items to us, and most of you would not recognize them after we have designed them into a one of a kind craft.

And lastly...I recently bought a lovely little book titled, "Whispers of Encouragement". I'd like to start sharing a verse with you at the close of each posting.

Carolyn has been very busy making more beautiful
hand knitted items that you will NOT find in any dept. store.
If you are looking for quality hand knit items,
come early for a good selection.

Above is a lovely cranberry sleeveless sweater.

This photo shows the design in the center.

Molly being a cool cat, loves "girly" things.
So she posed with this hand knit bag that
Carolyn made. This bag is fully lined with 3 inside pockets,
one for keys and a double pocket for your cell phone and sunglasses.

Carolyn made some warm cozy slippers.
The top ones are called "Dorm Slippers" and
the bottom ones will stretch to fit.

I (Dee), made these counted cross stitch
wide mouth lids for canning.

Oh yes...did I forget to tell you that we will have
special home canned treats?
More about them later!

The Craft Guild Imagineers are continuing to create daily at home and weekly at church, to make this the BIGGEST and BEST, Christmas Bazaar ever! Our group is very unique! We do NOT have vendor tables, everything that you see has been created be approximately 12 Imagineers!

This year we will also have a very nice section of Attic Treasures.

Can't wait?...neither can we...so we have to get busy crafting!

Hi Everyone...

I hope you will bear with me as my family and I have had a very difficult week. We buried my nephew today. He was just 50 and a victim of the economy. David was laid off from his job, his wife worked at the same place and 4 weeks later she was laid off. their home in which they were very proud of was next...they lost their home. Finding their selves homeless with a 12 year old daughter, they moved in with David's Sister, Gail and her husband. A month ago David's unemployment stopped, 2 weeks ago his wife's unemployment stopped. Neither had been able to find employment. Last Wednesday morning, his wife found him. David died of a heart attack in his sleep.

This made me realize that David is just one of thousands...who has died or actually kill their self, because of what has happened beyond their control, to their life.

What I am asking is simply this: "Love your neighbor as your Brother." If you know of any family that has fallen prey to the economy...help them in what ever manner you can. No matter how small or how large, do something to help the person or family. Food, money, encouragement, prayer, help to find employment, just do something!

I learned a lot about my nephew today, that I did not know. Oh, I have always loved him! He was very special. All of my sister, Betty's children are "My Favorite!", because each of them has a special quality about them that is unique. Today, I learned that David was always helping his friends in need, rebuilding old friendships, always making new friends, a coach on his daughter's softball team. He loved the Phillie's, camping, playing horseshoes, and much more that I did not know! He enjoyed and loved life and he loved his family. His daughter, Debbie was the "apple of his eye". I don't think David attended church, I'm not sure, but this I do know, that he lived a Christian life and he knew God as his Holy Father.

David is the 2ND Son that my sister has buried. Her 1st Son, Sonnie, died suddenly when he was just 7. He was a sunny little boy and we miss him still! I can not imagine the anguish that a Mother feels, losing her children. She is a widow, having lost a wonderful Irish husband and Father to their children. I am asking prayers for her pain and the pain of David's wife, Terry, daughter, Debbie, his siblings and family. Betty told me that she believes that the Lord will never give her more than she can bear.

A United Methodist Pastor, in New Jersey did the service. I'm sorry but I don't remember her name. It was a beautiful service and the rooms were filled with photos of David smiling with his friends and family. It felt warm and comforting, sitting there and listening to her speak of David and his Holy Father. She read a poem titled "The Dash" by Linda Ellis. As soon as we arrived home, I searched for it on the Internet. I'd like to share it with you.

The Dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tomestone
From the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all of the time
that she spent alive on the Earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line was worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
the cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent you dash?

On the drive home from New Jersey, I fully realized how much I love my family and how very proud I am of each and every one of them. They are a wonderful Blessing in my life and I intend to tell them that more often!

You would never know it, but this is a gourd!
She is a Russian Babushka doll.
Her face was painted by Gail,
and Dee created her outfit and necklace.

This snowman was handmade by Dee.
His snowball filled watering can says "Think Spring"!
He is holding his garden hoe in his other hand.

I never feel that my camera shows the full beauty and detail of the craft that we make, however, I do hope that you enjoy seeing some of the items we are creating. Many items shown are simply one of a kind, so if you see something you like, plan to attend our bazaar.
There will be many more surprises to come. We have great fun creating something out of nothing, and letting our imagination take over and the Lord guide our hands.

Busy Hands for Christmas!

Who doesn't love a teddy bear? This cutie comes with a wardrobe of hand knit sweaters and scarfs and may even have a hat or two when he goes home...or is this a girl?
We'll let you do the naming!
A great gift for boys or girls and Gramma's too!

Carolyn Weidemann loves to knit! Here are some lovely vests that she has created. This is a lovely soft blue chenille.

The close up shows the color and peg button detail of the vest above. It is in the same pattern as the first one shown.

This is a multicolor in rust tone. Just beautiful and notice the brass closing detail.

You do not have to go to a specialty shop and pay high prices for lovely hand knit "one of a kind" sweaters. We will have them at our Christmas Bazaar at very reasonable prices, only $25 each. I will show you more of Carolyn's creations at a later posting.

This jolly snowman with flower earmuffs was created by Gail Hartsough.

This is a Christmas mouse made from a gourd! He has furry ears and a Santa hat.

Gail loves to paint and one of her favorites is to create something from a gourd! She looks at it's shape and then she creates! She gets many requests for bird houses and will rarely paint them as the squirrels love them too! So we suggest that you hang this indoors or on your screened patio.

This is another Christmas mouse. His face is dimensional and his tail is the stem!

One of my favorites is this pear. It would look lovely in your kitchen or dinning room.

"Every time a bell rings, an angel gets her wings" This is an ornament and a pin to wear.

Drink your orange juice...we need the lids! This is a lovely ornament using a metal orange juice lid for the base.

This is a cow bell Snowman , about 3" tall. He is sparkly and has a bell for his nose.

We asked our Bethany friends for broken and unused jewelry and wow! you gave us many lovely pieces. The pieces you see were all cleaned in my jewelry cleaner and then re-designed into something new for our Christmas Bazaar! I'm not done, so I'm sure you'll see more!

The Yo Yo angels come in ornament and pin sizes and will make a great gift.

We also will be making ornaments from frozen orange juice lids, so please drink your orange juice and save the lids for us!

This is a "cowbell snowman", about 3" tall. He is sparkly and has a bell nose.

The pictures do not do the crafts and jewelry justice as the jewelry is shiny and sparkly and and the crafts are bright and merry!

We just had our planning meeting and hope to see some new faces on Wednesday, August 4th, at 9:00 am in the Social room. Come in the back entrance and ring the bell.

It's time for fun, fellowship as the Imagineer's start up creating for the holidays!

Would you like to become part of a group that meets weekly to share the Love and Grace of our Lord with friends in fellowship? Then Bethany Craft Guild is the place for you!

We meet every Wednesday from 9:00 am to Noon. Our meeting is started in shared prayer. Everyone joins in giving ideas for crafting and off we go! You don't have to "know" how to craft, if you're not confident on your abilities, don't worry...we will guide you and take one step at a time.

We have taken off a few months after our Spring Bazaar and we will start up again the first Wednesday in August, and get busy creating new and wonderful items for our
Christmas Bazaar.

What do you have to do to become a member???...show up!

We pay $1 dues weekly, to help defray the cost of supplies and everyone takes a turn at bringing a light snack. We have a Mission statement and our one rule is absolutely no gossiping. We love sharing memories of our families and church. We have such a good time...it's a wonder that we have time for crafting!

All the monies raised from our bazaars are returned to Bethany or the community as decided by majority vote. We have raised over $15,000 since our organization!
